Harney warns of €1bn in health cuts
13/11/2009 - 16:10:34The Health Minister Mary Harney has warned that almost €1bn worth of cuts will have to be made in the health service in next month's Budget.
She says the savings will have to come with more flexible work practices, shorter hospital stays, and more patients treated in the community.
Speaking to Clare FM, she said the Government would do its best to protect the venerable and the elderly.
She appealed to health workers and unions to co-operate with the changes which would have to occur.
