Govt and unions meet to discuss public-sector cuts

02/11/2009 - 07:11:05
The Government is set to begin another week of talks with unions about how to save money in the public sector.

The latest exchequer figures, due to be released tomorrow, will be hanging over negotiations, with reports this morning suggesting the tax take could be down almost 20%.

Meanwhile, the Frontline Alliance will meet Congress today to finalise plans for a national day of protest against budget cuts this Friday.

Public sector workers will take to the streets in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Sligo and Dundalk as well as the Taoiseach's constituency in Tullamore.
