Motor trading companies wound up

The High Court has made orders winding up a group of companies involved in motor sales today.

Today Mr Justice Peter Kelly appointed Anthony Weldon of Kieran Ryan and Associates liquidator to garages Casey Ballina Ltd and Casey Castlebar Ltd as well as for four related companies that operated as a supermarket for used cars Auto X Change Ltd in Cork, Limerick, Naas and Galway.

The Judge said it was clear that the companies are insolvent and unable to pay their debts.

In relation to Casey's garages the Judge said that it was a "sad end" to companies had been trading for approximately 80 years. The Judge also ordered that the company directors file a statement of affairs.

The court heard that the companies got into trouble for reasons including the decline in sterling, the economic downturn, changes to the VRT.
