Number of people due in court over Drogheda death

A number of people are due to appear in court in Drogheda later today in connection with the death of a 29-year-old man more than 18 months ago.

Darren McKeown, from Donore in Co Meath, died in hospital after being attacked by a gang at Rowan Heights in Drogheda in the early hours of St Stephen's Day, 2007.

Several arrests were made in the wake of the incident, but no charges were brought.

A number of people were arrested by gardaí in Drogheda last night and are expected to appear before the local district court on serious charges arising from the killing.
