Coughlan calls for resolution to electricians’ dispute

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise has called on both sides in the electricians' dispute to resolve their differences.

More than 10,000 electricians have gone on strike this morning as part of a row over an 11% pay increase that has been overdue for a number of years.

The action has caused the shutdown of several large construction sites, including the Corrib Gas terminal, Dublin Airport's Terminal Two and the new Lansdowne Road stadium.

Speaking to reporters this morning, Mary Coughlan said both sides needed to accept that the economic climate has changed.
