Appeal for information following bank raid

Gardaí in Tipperary have issued an appeal for information in connection with a bank robbery at a branch of AIB in Clogheen yesterday morning.

Two men dressed as workmen, wearing hard hats, entered the bank and threatened staff before escaping with an undisclosed sum of money.

One of the two men is described as being of strong build, lightly bearded with a shaven head.

The other is also described as being of strong build with dark coloured hair.

A red hatchback-type car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf, was seen acting suspiciously in Clogheen prior to the robbery.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in Clogheen or the surrounding area yesterday morning to come forward.

Witnesses are asked to contact any garda station or the garda confidential line on 1800-666-111.
