Unions asked to resume talks in electricians’ dispute
03/07/2009 - 18:01:01The National Implementation Body wants electrical and engineering unions to re-engage with employers groups in a bid to avert this week's planned strike action.
Up to 10,000 electricians are set to strike on Monday, in a row over pay and conditions.
Talks broke down at the Labour Relations Commission yesterday, but NIB is calling on both sides to return to the talks table, to avoid what it says would be serious disruption to the economy.
Employers group IBEC also wants the strike deferred.
