03/07/2009 - 08:10:45
US court proceeedings against Scottish-born actor Gerard Butler, who was charged in Los Angeles with misdemeanour battery for a scuffle with a photographer, have been postponed at the request of the actor's representatives.

A Los Angeles Superior Court clerk said the actor’s lawyer requested the delay on Wednesday, and a judge agreed to postpone the arraignment to August 18.

City prosecutors said the actor had a run-in with a photographer on October 7 last after leaving a premiere party for the film 'RocknRolla'.

Butler’s manager, Alan Siegel, said Butler was forced to have his driver stop the car after the photographer repeatedly sped through red lights and almost struck two pedestrians.

Butler, who stars in this summer’s 'The Ugly Truth', faces up to six months in jail if convicted.
