O’Gorman: State should stand up to religious orders

The founder of the One in Four support group Colm O'Gorman says the State should be taking a stronger stance against religious orders involved in child abuse.

Mr O'Gorman says the fallout from last week's Child Abuse Commission report has highlighted disturbing flaws in the way the State does its business.

Mr O'Gorman, who is now director of Amnesty International in Ireland, says there is something offensive about having to ask religious orders to make a voluntary financial gesture to abuse victims.
