Labour Court reports 30% increase in cases

The Labour Court has reported a significant increase in the number of workplace disputes being referred to State agencies.

In its latest annual report, the court says the number of disputes dealt with by the country's four industrial relations agencies was up 30% last year.

More than 18,800 cases were resolved, 355 of them by the Labour Court itself.

The court's Chairman Kevin Duffy says the nature of disputes has also changed, with most cases last year relating to breaches of employment agreements.
