Bus Éireann denies plan to axe 52 routes

Bus Éireann has today denied reports that it plans to axe 52 routes around the country in a bid to save money.

However, the company says a small number of routes will be scrapped and dozens of other services will be reduced as part of a cost-cutting programme being negotiated with trade unions.

Bus Éireann says some routes are not financially viable and cannot continue in the current economic environment.
