Teen badly beaten in gang attack
18/03/2009 - 16:59:51A 19-year-old man was seriously injured in a gang attack in Co Down early today.
The teenager was walking through Newcastle at around 1.30am with two friends when he approached by a number of males.
The trio tried to flee but he was trapped and attacked, suffering head and facial injuries.
Police said he was taken to hospital suffering from injuries which were serious but not thought to be life-threatening.
The attack took place at the junction of Castlewellan Road and Dunwellan and investigating detectives appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious activity to contact them.
