Water firm takes on 22 new apprentices

Northern Ireland Water is defying the economic gloom and employing more apprentices.

The company recruited 22 trainees to help the industry expand.

The permanent secretary of the Department for Employment and Learning, Dr Aideen McGinley, launched the water apprenticeships.

“With further employer engagement and quality training, apprentices are an important investment to companies, providing industry with management and leadership for the future,” she said.

She commended NIW and urged other companies to follow its lead.
