Mother guilty of killing baby in tumble dryer
15/03/2009 - 11:33:29A US woman was found guilty of killing her baby by putting him into a clothes dryer and turning the machine on.
A Louisiana jury convicted Lakeisha Adams of second-degree murder for the death of her three-month-old son, Jailand in December 2005.
The coroner's office said the child suffered blunt force trauma to his head and second and third degree burns on half of his body. The mother, who also had a one-year-old child, was 18 at the time.
Police said Adams admitted putting the infant in the dryer and turning it on, but did not explain why.
Her lawyer asked jurors to find her not guilty or not guilty by reason of insanity.
