Woman killed in Kildare road accident
15/03/2009 - 11:11:28A 27-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a car in Co Kildare.
The pedestrian was crossing the Dublin Road in Maynooth at around 8pm last night when she was struck by the vehicle.
She was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the car - a woman in her 40s - was arrested at the scene for suspected drink driving.
She has since been released from garda custody and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
It brings to three the number of people killed on the roads this weekend.
A 55-year-old man died after he was hit by a car in Limerick on Friday, and a 30-year-old man died when his car crashed into a ditch in Co Offaly yesterday morning.
