Fine Gael calls for reform of public service

Fine Gael has said there will only be a real turnaround in the economy when the Government properly reforms the public service.

The Party's Finance Spokesperson said the creation of the Health Service Executive was the equivalent of a soviet-style bureaucracy.

Richard Bruton was speaking at the party's national convention in Wexford.

He told delegates that the Government's management of the public service has been a total mess.
