'Sex and the City' is fastest-selling DVD in the UK
'Sex And The City: The Movie' has become the fastest-selling DVD of the year, shifting nearly one million copies in its first week of release in the UK, the Official Charts Company said.
The organisation, which compiles the DVD best sellers list, said more than 920,000 copies of the DVD have been sold in the UK since its release on Monday last week.
It is the highest first week figure recorded so far this year, beating 'Ratatouille', which sold more than 700,000 in its first week.
'Titanic' is the fastest-selling DVD/video of any genre that the Official Charts Company has on its records going back 14 years. It sold 2.3 million copies in its first week.
Here are the Official Charts Company’s top five first-week best-selling “chick-flick” DVDs of the last 14 years:
1. 'Sex And The City: The Movie'
2. 'Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason'
3. 'Bridget Jones’s Diary'
4. 'Notting Hill'
5. '27 Dresses'
