Peter Robinson today became first minister of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader succeeded the Ian Paisley 14 months after power-sharing with Sinn Féin was restored.

Mr Robinson, 59, will work with republican deputy first minister Martin McGuinness.
