FG and Labour seek Dáil debate on economy
05/06/2008 - 11:38:23Fine Gael and Labour are seeking a full debate on pre-budget estimates before the summer break.
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny told the Dáil this morning that the Government was failing to deal with serious problems facing the economy.
Figures show tax receipts fell €1.2bn behind target in May.
The Dáil will break today until June 17 and rise again during the first week in July for the summer recess.
The Tánaiste, Mary Coughlan, said a debate on the economy would be facilitated, but many of the current problems are beyond government control.
She also insisted the Irish economy was resilient.
