Caffrey delays naming team, Cullen pleased by grant
Dublin senior football manager Paul Caffrey will leave it closer to throw-in on Sunday to name his side to face Monaghan in the rearranged Allianz NFL Division 2 meeting between the counties set for Parnell Park on Sunday at 2.30pm.
The Dublin management team are waiting until after this Saturday's Leinster U-21 FC quarter-final with Kildare in Newbridge (throw-in at 3pm) to finalise their team.
However, St Vincent's goalkeeper Michael Savage has been added to the panel ahead of this weekend's game.
Alan Brogan, Barry Cahill and substitute goalkeeper John Leonard are all unavailable for selection.
But ready to play his part is a player who has represented his country in the past and
someone who has been central to the Dubs recent provincial success.
Bryan Cullen is pleased the intercounty player grants issue has been clarified and looks set
to be rubberstamped at the upcoming GAA annual congress now that the mechanism has been
approved by the association's central council.
Once in place it means intercounty squad members will pocket at least €1400 in expenses
each season.
