Self-governing North 'proof of Good Friday success'

Sinn Féin has claimed that the fact that the North is self-governing is proof that the Good Friday Agreement was a success.

A series of events is planned in the coming weeks to mark the 10th anniversary of the historic deal.

The breakthrough agreement was signed on April 10, 1998.

Many of the key players in the negotiations have now moved on, including Tony Blair, David Trimble and John Hume.

Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly said today that the genius of the agreement was that it allowed trust to develop.
