Farrell: 'My family saved my life'

18/03/2008 - 10:53:12
Colin Farrell fears he would be dead if his family hadn't begged him to seek help over his drink and drug addiction.

The actor became famed in Hollywood for his drunken antics and lothario reputation after appearing in blockbusters such as 'Alexander' and 'Phone Booth'.

But the 31-year-old reached a point where his continual partying took over his life, prompting the star's terrified family to push him into seeking help for his problems.

He tells the British edition of GQ: "I couldn't stop. Just literally couldn't stop. What happened at the end of Miami Vice was that I knew I couldn't stop and wasn't going to stop.

"I was just depressed and profoundly sad. So my family stepped in and said, 'It's time. You're killing yourself', and I said, ' yeah I am.' My family saved my life."
