Relatives of Bertie's ex got IR£30k loan from FF account

22/02/2008 - 13:30:46
The Mahon Tribunal has heard that relatives of Celia Larkin, Bertie Ahern's former partner, got a loan of IR£30,000 from a bank account used for the upkeep of St Luke's in Drumcondra.

St Luke's is used as a Fianna Fáil constituency office and the account was run by a trust that maintains the house.

It emerged today that money from the account was loaned to three elderly relatives of Celia Larkin, who were in difficulty and at risk of losing their home.

The tribunal heard the money was used to buy the house for them and the decision to loan the money was not taken by Mr Ahern, but by the committee that ran the house.

The committee includes Tim Collins and Joe Burke, both close associates of the Taoiseach.
