Firearms and drugs seized during Limerick raids
22/02/2008 - 07:59:25Gardaí have recovered firearms, ammunition and ecstasy tablets during a major search operation in the Southill area yesterday evening.
Four men in their 20s and 30s were arrested following the raids on eight houses in O'Malley Park, but they were released without charge a number of hours later.
Gardaí say the searches were part of an ongoing operation targeting criminal activity in the notorious estate.
A pump-action shotgun, a handgun, silencers and ammunition were discovered in the grounds of one house, while more than 5,000 ecstasy tablets were discovered on waste ground near another house.
Around 30 Gardaí were involved in the raids, which began at around 3pm and lasted for several hours.
