22/02/2008 - 19:45:49Cate Blanchett reprises her role as the monarch in ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ (Universal, €24.99), and again picks up an Oscar nomination.
However, it’s been 10 years since ‘Elizabeth’ first launched, and this follow-up suffers by comparison, despite the presence yet again of co-stars such as Geoffrey Rush.
Clive Own plays the dashing Sir Walter Raleigh, and there’s the usual intrigue and treachery, with Samantha Morton lending fine support as the unfortunate Mary Queen of Scots.
A tame director’s commentary, deleted scenes and featurettes are the main extras.
