IBOA to push for 10% wage rise in national pay talks
22/02/2008 - 07:43:31The Irish Bank Officials Association (IBOA) says it will be pushing for a 10% pay increase for workers during talks on a new national wage agreement.
The union also wants a measure put into the agreement providing for independent examination where employers wish to close defined-benefit pension schemes.
Its list of demands also includes a demand to compensate workers for increased productivity and modernisation measures.
The IBOA says its members work in an extremely profitable industry, but the pay increases in the last wage agreement barely covered the cost of inflation.
