Two civilians killed in Nato clash in Afghanistan
A clash between Nato troops and Taliban insurgents in southern Afghanistan left a child and adult civilian dead and five others wounded, the alliance said in a statement today.
The troops battled militants after a roadside bomb attack on Nato’s International Security Assistance Force soldiers on Friday near Tirin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province, the statement said.
On Saturday, ISAF soldiers returned to the location of the clash and discovered two dead civilians and five other people wounded.
“The dead are a child and an adult; the injured included three children,” the statement said. “It is not clear how they sustained their injuries.”
There were no ISAF casualties in the clash.
Civilians are often caught in the line of fire during clashes between the Taliban and international forces.
