Foley and Murphy to captain Limerick sides
07/01/2008 - 14:08:14Experienced defender Mark Foley will captain the Limerick senior hurlers in 2008, it has been confirmed.
Foley was nominated to take on the captain's role by his club Adare, who beat Croom to win the Limerick county title in November.
The 33-year-old previously captained Limerick in 2002 and 2003.
He was an inspirational figure as Limerick won through to last year's All-Ireland final. The Ballyagran publican was named on the 2007 Opel GPA Hurling team of the Year and was also an All-Star nominee.
Meanwhile, the Shannonsiders' senior footballers will be skippered by Johnny Murphy this year, after his club Ballylanders, the reigning county champions, put forward his name.
The talented forward is back on the inter-county scene after taking a break in 2007.
