INTO to seek legal advice on school water charges
07/01/2008 - 08:49:49The Irish National Teachers Organisation is to seek legal advice on the Government's decision to impose usage-based water charges on schools.
The move follows calls from Fine Gael yesterday urging schools to take legal action.
The party claims the Government is breaching the Constitution by imposing the charges.
However, the Government says it has received legal advice which says schools must pay bills based on usage levels under EU law.
INTO says it is inevitable that the issue will go to the courts.
