Body of missing backpacker found in Chile
07/01/2008 - 08:16:26The body of missing Irish backpacker Ronan Lawlor has reportedly been discovered in South America.
Reports this morning say the Department of Foreign Affairs has informed Mr Lawlor's family that a body believed to be that of the 28-year-old has been recovered by Chilean police.
Mr Lawlor disappeared on November 18 while hiking in the Torres del Paine national park on the Argentina-Chile border.
A massive search was launched, but it was called off just before Christmas amid fears that he had drowned.
