Injured Dempsey on the sidelines

Dempsey, last season’s Queen Mother Champion Chase runner-up, has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Trainer Carl Llewellyn’s hand was forced because of an ongoing problem with the 10-year-old’s near-fore.

“It’s a shame because he was in such great form last season,” Llewellyn told the Racing Post.

“But the sensible solution is to give him a good long rest to get him right again for next season.”

Dempsey had yet to run this term and was last seen winning the Celebration Chase at Sandown in April.
