Elderly man injured in knifepoint robbery

An 86-year-old man suffered cuts and bruises after being robbed at knifepoint in Co Antrim today.

Two burglars forced their way into the pensioner’s home in Mandeville Avenue, Lisburn, in the early hours of the morning, police said.

The victim was threatened with a blade and forced to hand over a small amount of cash after his assailants rummaged around in the house.

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The attackers, aged between 16 and 17, knocked at the door at around 1am and pushed their way in when he answered.

Police have appealed for information.
