Ladbrokes settles Turf TV dispute
02/01/2008 - 08:08:24The UK’s biggest bookmaker, Ladbrokes, today dropped its opposition to racing service Turf TV after agreeing to show the channel in its 2,200 betting shops.
Ladbrokes signed up to Turf TV – a joint venture between technology firm Alphameric and 31 racecourses – after missing out on live pictures from two races from Cheltenham yesterday.
The bookmaker, a shareholder in the rival Satellite Information Services (SIS) betting channel, had launched legal action against the break-away channel although this is likely to be dropped following the company’s move.
Turf TV, which shows exclusive pictures from racecourses including Aintree and Ascot, now covers more than 6,000 betting offices.
