Spanish student dies while playing basketball

A post mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a Spanish student who died suddenly while playing basketball in Co Westmeath.

The incident happened at the Athlone Institute of Technology yesterday evening.

The young man's parents are travelling from Valencia to Ireland today.

Over the past six months, three young students have died in Co Westmeath in similar circumstances.
