Militants free 121 kidnapped Pakistani soldiers

Militants today freed 211 Pakistani soldiers who were abducted near the Afghan border two months ago, the army’s top spokesman said.

The soldiers were freed through the efforts of a jirga, or a tribal council of elders, in South Waziristan, said Major General Waheed Arshad.

South Waziristan is a lawless tribal region where al-Qaida and Taliban-linked militants operate.
