Irish boxer Barnes secures Olympic qualification

Ireland's Paddy Barnes has qualified for next year's Olympics in Beijing after reaching the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Championships in Chicago.

The light-flyweight fighter beat Japan's Kenji Ohkubo 20-6 on points yesterday to secure Olympic qualification.

Elsewhere, light-heavyweight Ken Egan lost to Croatian Marijo Sivolija, while lightweight Eric Donovan was beaten by Italian Dominico Valentino.
