Bruce wants talks with Yeung
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce is demanding showdown talks over his future with prospective new owner Carson Yeung.
Bruce is unhappy that Hong Kong businessman Yeung did not approve the contract he agreed with the current board in May.
He is hoping to meet Yeung who is next due in England to watch Birmingham’s next match at Manchester City on October 20.
Bruce said: “I have only spoken to Mr Yeung and his board very, very briefly, which was about two months ago. I haven’t had a conversation since.
“I think the best way forward is that I demand a meeting with the prospective new owners and see them face to face to find out exactly which way they want the club to be run.
“At the moment, it’s very difficult to paint the picture anything but gloomy for myself.
“I’m getting ’dead man walking’ headlines and stuff like that. The media are having a field day.
“That is wrong for the club because any slight chink of instability, any slight crack appears, then people jump on it.
“We have got off to a decent start this season and I believe we have the makings of a decent, young team.
“I want to try and protect them and do everything I can to possibly help us, rather than be in the headlines.”
Bruce added: “I am not going to lie. Of course all this undermines me. It takes away a bit of the strength I have got.
“But I won’t allow it to become a problem. I will make sure the team is as prepared and focused as it has been to retain our status and do something in the Premier League this season if we possibly can.”
“I have been here too long to drift away. It’s business as usual, as much as it can be. I will do the best I can to not let this affect me or the team.”
