SIPTU calls for inquiry into Bray firefighters' deaths
28/09/2007 - 17:38:48SIPTU, the union which represents fulltime firefighters, has called for an independent investigation into yesterday's fire in Bray.
46-year-old Brian Murray and 26-year-old Mark O'Shaughnessy were killed fighting the blaze.
They were both part-time firefighters.
SIPTU now wants a full enquiry into the deaths.
It wants an investigation into matters such as the adequacy of the breathing apparatus procedure, command and control procedures, and whether or not an adequate number of personnel were called out to deal with the fire.
