ISEQ boosted by bookmaker's surge

Shares on the Irish market gathered momentum this afternoon as ISEQ powerhouse Paddy Powers surged by €1.07 at €24.07 per share.

On foot of the news the ISEQ index climbed 75.67 points at 8515.02.

AIB was the only bank to impress traders today as it clocked up 28c at €19.

Bank of Ireland had the most disappointing performance among the financial heavy weights losing 17c at €13.58.

Meanwhile Anglo Irish and IL&P fell 6c and 9c to close the day at €13.80 and €18.08.
