Aer Lingus management and pilots hold further LRC talks
21/08/2007 - 07:29:42Aer Lingus management and representatives of the pilots' union IALPA are due to attend further talks at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) later this morning.
A framework for the discussions was agreed at a meeting between the two sides last night following the pilots' decision to call off their two-day strike planned for this week.
They had threatened the stoppage to protest against the company's plan to hire new pilots in Belfast on lesser terms and conditions than those enjoyed in the Republic.
The cancellation of the strike has allowed Aer Lingus to operate an almost full schedule of flights today and tomorrow.
However, the airline has been forced to cancel four transatlantic flights as contingency plans had been made in case the pilots went ahead with their action.
