15 militants killed in Pakistan bombing
19/08/2007 - 13:24:08Pakistan army helicopter gunships strafed and bombed suspected militant hide-outs in a restive tribal region in the country’s North West today, killing 15 fighters, an official said.
The air raids were carried out after militants launched attacks and engaged in intense gun battles with security forces late Saturday in North Waziristan, a tribal region on the border with Afghanistan, army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said.
Two compounds were hit during the operation in which 15 foreign militants, mostly Uzbeks, were killed, Arshad said.
