19/08/2007 - 17:09:33Mores Wells narrowly won a thrilling race for the Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown.
Declan McDonogh brought Kevin Prendergast’s colt to make his bid between the pacesetting Temlett and Fracas.
Mores Wells (5-2 joint-favourite) nosed ahead approaching the final furlong and battled on well, despite drifting over to the far rival, to hold Fracas by half a length. Arch Rebel was third.
Prendergast said: “He travelled well but maybe he got there a bit too soon.
“He probably likes better ground than this and good ground would be ideal. At Goodwood last time he got locked up and had nowhere to go, but he was only beaten just over three lengths.
“He’ll go for the Irish Leger next at the Curragh. It may be a tall order but he’s a progressive horse and should have no problem staying.”
