GAA drops sponsors

19/08/2007 - 10:08:51
Two of the GAA's biggest sponsors will have their brands dropped from all titles from next year.

Bank of Ireland and Guinness will no longer have naming rights to the Championship events.

The GAA has informed both companies that it intends to split the sponsorship of the football and hurling championships among three brands for each competition.

This will see income for the events top €6.5m a year, compared to €3-€5m, which it currently generates.

It is unclear whether the current sponsors will remain as part of the new package.
