Fips first for Spencer
19/08/2007 - 14:54:59Jamie Spencer was quickly on the scoresheet at Pontefract when Mister Fips justified favouritism in the EBF Evleyn Wilks 95th Birthday Maiden Stakes.
The even-money chance kept on well under pressure for the title-chasing Spencer to hold Aaim For Applause by half a length.
Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam was recording her first success at the course and her representative Steve Horsfall said: “Mister Fips has been knocking on the door, he has come up against one or two good ones previously.
“He is a tough and genuine little horse and his turn was due.”
