Rob Lowe kills bird during golf game

Actor Rob Lowe was horrified during a recent golf game when he scored a birdie of a different kind - he accidentally killed a goldfinch with his golf ball.

The former 'West Wing' star was playing at a charity golf match in Iowa, US when his ball struck the hapless bird.

Unfortunately it was to get worse for Lowe - the goldfinch is the state bird of Iowa.

Lowe says: "It's unbelievable. Only I could come here and kill the state bird."
