Crisis talks continue in effort to avert BA strikes

Talks will resume in the UK later today in a last-ditch attempt to avert this week's crippling British Airways strike.

Some 11,000 cabin crew are due to walk out on Tuesday and Wednesday, in a bitter dispute over sickness absence, pay and staffing.

The airline has cancelled all flights out of Heathrow and domestic and European flights out of Gatwick for the duration of the strike, costing it millions of pounds in lost revenue.

A total of 1,500 flights has so far been cancelled.
