RTE clamps down on bad language

RTE is set to crack down on the amount of bad language used on air.

It comes amidst concerns over the number of complaints being made about profanities on its TV and radio programmes.

It is understood certain programmes will have to justify their use of swear words, and presenters and guests will be reminded to keep their language clean.

The latest appearance of comedian Tommy Tiernan on the Late Late Show sparked the highest number of recent complaints on bad language at the national broadcaster.
