2005 Football All-Stars win Dubai exhibition match
A final tally of 2-5 from Derry attacker Paddy Bradley ensured the class of 2005 held sway in the All-Stars exhibition clash at the Dubai Polo Grounds today.
The final score was: 2005 All-Stars 4-13 - 2006 All-Stars 3-10.
The Glenullin clubman scored 1-3 before the break and helped to cancel out Seamus Moynihan's 23rd minute goal strike for the 2006 team to leave the teams tied at 1-7 at the interval.
However Mickey Harte's team pulled away in the second half of what was one of the more competitive All-Star encounters of recent years.
Although Alan Brogan and James Masters added goal strikes for the 2006 selection, second half goals from Sean Cavanagh (2) and another from Bradley allowed the 2005 team to run out six point winners.
The game marked the return of both Conor Gormley and Aaron Kernan from long term ankle and arm injuries respectively and also marked the last top level outing for Peter Canavan, Seamus Moynihan and Mike McCarthy who have all retired from the inter county scene.
The All-Stars arrive back in Dublin tomorrow.
