McDowell to make address for Holocaust Memorial Day
27/01/2007 - 09:38:01Tánaiste Michael McDowell is to address a ceremony in Dublin this evening marking the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
He will join politicians, academics and Holocaust survivors at the Law Society in Blackhall Place in paying tribute to the six million Jews who perished in the Nazi death camps between 1938 and 1945.
"I think the lessons are more relevant today than they've ever been," said Oliver Donohue, one of the organisers of National Holocaust Memorial Day.
"The main lesson being, if you allow discrimination and intolerance and separating people from one another, it can lead to what happened in the Holocaust."
