Last-ditch talks seek to avert strike at Bausch and Lomb
21/01/2007 - 16:07:06Last-minute talks are underway between unions and management in an attempt to avert strike action at the Bausch and Lomb factory in Waterford.
Members of the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union are due to mount pickets on the factory, which manufactures contact lenses, at 9pm this evening.
They served strike notice on the company earlier this week in relation to the suspension of a worker.
The company issued protective notice the plants 1,500 employees on Friday.
Both parties are refusing to comment on matter while talks are ongoing.
